Why does it work? Notice the backstroke arc fans out wider as it reaches the edge of the template. Before I invented the template, I would notice how I could make putts, but my stroke would appear to look different when I saw it with my peripheral vision. As I began designing the template, I noticed that this difference was in the path on the backstroke. I have hit thousands of putts with the template and putts can be made when the sweet spot rides the upper or lower edge of the arc. On short ones, you can miss the sweet spot by a centimeter and still make them. The hash marks on the arc are different though. If the putter face is off more than 1 degree either way, the ball will be pulled or pushed. The best practice is to adjust your current grip until your shoulders put the face on the hash marks. There is no one grip, but rather a grip that allows the putter face to match the hash marks. The arms and shoulders must work together. Personally, I place my elbows on my stomach to make them work with my shoulders. The most common error is standing too close to the ball. It tends to push the putter back outside the arc. |
